Triton Federal Credit Union needs seven founding subscribers to complete its charter application with the NCUA. These volunteers become the Credit Union's first Board of Directors — shaping its mission, policies, and future from day one.
Board service at a de novo credit union is meaningful work. Pre-charter, the commitment is relatively light — reviewing documents, attending monthly planning meetings (virtual), and signing charter filings. Post-charter, the Board meets monthly and is responsible for setting strategic direction and policy oversight. Time commitment: approximately 4–6 hours per month.
All board members receive NCUA-provided training for de novo credit union directors at no cost. No prior credit union experience is required — relevant professional expertise is what matters.
The CEO leads the day-to-day operations of the Credit Union and serves as the Chair of the Board. This is the one compensated board officer position permitted under NCUA regulations. Pre-charter, the CEO serves as a volunteer. Upon NCUA charter approval, the CEO transitions to a compensated role.
What we're looking for:
The Treasurer oversees the financial integrity of the Credit Union, reviews financial statements monthly, and chairs the budget committee. This is a volunteer position. A contractor arrangement for ongoing accounting services may be established in Year 2.
What we're looking for:
The Credit Committee Chair oversees the Credit Union's lending policies, reviews loan portfolio performance, and ensures fair lending compliance. This role helps set the tone for the Credit Union's approach to small business and consumer lending.
What we're looking for:
The Secretary maintains Board minutes, ensures bylaw compliance, and provides legal perspective on major contracts and policy decisions. This is a governance and advisory role — not a legal representation engagement.
What we're looking for:
This seat exists for the member who needs no credentials beyond running a business. The Small Business Director represents the real-world perspective of the people Triton FCU is built to serve. If you've ever been frustrated with banking hours, fees, or lack of local lending — this seat is for you.
What we're looking for:
The Supervisory Committee is the independent oversight body of the Credit Union, separate from the Board of Directors. The Chair arranges the annual audit, reviews member complaints, and ensures the Credit Union is operating safely and in compliance with all applicable regulations.
What we're looking for:
Not a formal application — just a starting conversation. Tell us which role interests you and a little about your background. We'll follow up within a week.
